Bentley Weekly Update 02/11/18

Christmas Plays – A bit of a heads up for you – The Christmas performances this year will be as follows:

Wolves – Tuesday 11th December 1:30pm and 6:00pm

Hedgehogs and Adders – Monday 10th December 2:15pm and Tuesday 11th December 2:15pm and 6:45pm.

Details about tickets for each performance will be sent out via email next week. There will be some beautiful Christmas cakes raffled at each show; if you would like to enter tickets will be on sale for just £1.

Design a Meal Competition – The catering company that provides our lunches is running a competition for children to design a special lunch. The winning entry will be cooked and served at all of their schools in Suffolk and Norfolk in January. Please see your class teacher or the office if your child would like an entry form.

Non-uniform Day – We will be having a non-uniform day on Friday 23rd November in return for donations for the tombola and the lucky dip at the Christmas Fayre.

Wolves - Wolves are inviting adults to their healthy cafe on Tues 13th Nov at 2pm in the school hall following their work last term on learning new cooking skills and healthy eating.  We will be selling sandwiches, soup and healthy cake options, please come and support us. Wolves class have one more week to enter the 'egg' comic strip competition if they want to. Year 1 and 2, homework in homework books as normal.

Hedgehogs – Please check your child’s homework book for details on homework tasks. If you or your child does not understand something about the tasks set, please speak to Mrs Duff in good time before the due date. There is a homework club for children in Hedgehogs on Friday lunch times where Mrs Duff is on hand to give some support if children are struggling.

Adders – Homework is due in on Monday. Please speak to Mrs Robinson in good time if your child does not understand something about homework set. Please remind your children that anyone who does not complete their homework by the deadline will have to lose some of their lunch break to get it finished. Thank you. We are ever so excited about our trip to the cinema on the 13th to see Goosebumps 2. If you have not already done so, please get your permission and £2.80 contribution in as soon as possible.

Bentley Bake Off and Children in Need – Hopefully you will have all read the letter about the baking competition on the 16th November. We can’t wait to see your entries. Cakes will be raffled off at the end of the day and any money raised will be donated to Children in Need. Children can come to school in the colours as outlined in the letter in return for a 50p donation also for Children in Need. The letter with the full details about the day was emailed to you earlier this week, but if cannot find that email for any reason, the letter is also in the letters section on the website.

Open Afternoon and Evening – If any of your friends or relatives have children starting School next September, please do encourage them to come along to our open afternoon and / or evening on Wednesday 14th November. The afternoon starts at 1:30pm and the evening starts at 6:30pm.

Memorial Service – We will be walking to the memorial on Thursday 8th November at 10:50am for a special memorial service. As ever we would invite you all to join us if you can.

Shoes for St Nicholas – Many of you who have children in the upper years will know that we have for many years had a tradition of bringing shoes in for St Nicholas to fill with some little gifts. The PTA have very kindly covered the cost of these gifts in recent years, but they are financially supporting many important projects around the school, and as fewer and fewer families have sent shoes in in recent years, we have decided that this will be the last year that we do this. If you wish for your child to take part in this final nod to St Nic, please send them in with a NAMED shoe on Wednesday 5th December. If your child does not bring in a shoe, they will not receive any gifts.
