Bentley Weekly Update 10/01/20

Words of The Week

Rec – ‘next to’ and ‘on top’

Yr1/2 - ‘decade’ and ‘memory’

Hedgehogs – ‘Mediterranean’ and ‘destination’

Adders – ‘immigration’ and ‘hemisphere’

Attachments This Week – Please do look at the curriculum maps that are attached to the email with this newsletter on, as they will give you a good idea of what the topic this half term will include. Also attached is a leaflet about this term’s value ‘courage’.

Wolves – Next Tuesday, we would love for families to bring in any toys with a lever, moving part, flap or pulley mechanism to help inspire our upcoming DT project. Don’t forget, on Friday is our 1960’s dress up day in Wolves; we can’t wait to see their outfits! Please also send in any photos or artefacts from the decade on Friday. Thank you.

Fitbits Some of the older children have received Fitbit type watches for Christmas which are a great way of monitoring their physical activity, and keeping them active.  However, some of the watches connect to phones and have games and apps on them that the children are playing with during lessons or at break times.  The children have been spoken to about how they can use their watches to tell the time, monitor their heart rate or count their steps and monitor their physical activity.  They have been asked not to access any other games or apps during school time.  If their watch connects to a mobile phone and they have them both in school, then both items will need to be left in the Office until the end of the day as per our policy on mobile phones.  If their watch connects to the internet via a sim card, they will also need to leave it in the Office during the day for safeguarding reasons. Please do come and speak to me if you have any questions about the use of Fitbits or other gadgets in school - Mrs Rudge, Online Safety Lead.

Student Teacher – We have a student teacher joining us in Wolves class from Monday. Her name is Miss Mayhew, please do say hello if you meet her around the school.

Taco Thursday Don’t forget, there is a special lunch next Thursday. Thank you to all those parents who replied so promptly about their child’s choices.

Tag Rugby Rescheduled – Looking a little way ahead, the Tag Rugby tournament that had to be cancelled before Christmas has now been rescheduled for Monday 9th March. Those children in Adders who were due to take part last time will be the same children attending this time.

PE Kits – Please may we remind you that full PE kits need to be in everyday, thank you.
