Bentley Weekly Update 22/11/19

Words of The Week

Rec – ‘different’ and ‘half’

Yr1/2 - ‘comment’ and ‘audience’

Hedgehogs – ‘mislaid’ and ‘product’

Adders – ‘anonymous’ and ‘illiterate’

Children in Need – The final total after counting up all the coppers and late contributions, was a staggering £101!!!!! Well done to everyone.

Wolves’ Nativity Play Children in Wolves class who need to learn words for the play were given their scripts yesterday.  They need to learn them as soon as possible as the play is in 3 weeks’ time!!  We will start practicing next week, so their scripts need to be in their bookbags everyday please.  There will be a link on Wolves Class page on the website to the songs, so please help them to practice those too.  Thank you for your support.

Swimming Years 2-4 The children need to bring pyjamas and their usual swimming kit as they will be completing a safety session. The best type of pyjamas would be a shorts and T-shirt combination and no onesies. Please remember, all children must have their OWN swimming hat. We can no longer lend spares as we need to stop this spread of headlice.

Cake Club – This week in cake club, the children will be icing their cakes. Please could you send them in with a rolling pin. This session will finish at 4pm not 4:15pm.

Hedgehogs – We are very sad to be saying (a temporary) goodbye to Mrs Duff today as she starts her maternity leave. The lovely Mrs Smith will be starting with us Monday covering Wolves class up until the Christmas break. From January, we are very pleased to confirm that we have appointed a new teacher, Miss Underwood, as maternity cover for Mrs Duff.

Parents Consultations – Don’t forget to come along to your time slot, please bring your child with you so they can share their learning also.

Christmas Decoration Making – For those of you that are new to the school, let us introduce this annual fun event; every year we invite parents, grandparents, aunts uncles etc to come along and join us in making a host of different Christmas decorations alongside the children. Each class will be making different items and it is always a lovely atmosphere. If you have children in more than one class, you will have the opportunity to spend a little time with each of them. This year’s event takes place on Friday 29th November from 1pm.

Christmas Performance Tickets – A letter will be coming home next week with a slip for you to return for tickets for the Christmas performances. There is no charge for tickets but space means we are limited to how many tickets we can issue for each performance. Please read the letter when it comes home and return the slip asap so places can be allocated as fairly as possible. During the performances, we will be putting a bucket out for cash donations to go towards the refurbishment of the facilities at the church. Please give what you can, as a small rural church funding is exceedingly hard to get and every penny really will help. We will also be raffling off a beautiful Christmas Cake as usual.

Non-uniform Day for Tombola Donations – Friday 6th of November, children have the option of coming in in non-uniform in exchange for donations for the Christmas Fayre tombola. It can be anything really, sweets chocolates, bath bits, bottles, treats etc. All we ask is that any food or drinks that are donated are in good date please.

Lucky Dip - We are also looking for donations of small items for the lucky dip. Please could you bring anything in for the lucky dip by this Friday, 29th November. Thank you in anticipation for your support with these.

PTA Update – The PTA held their AGM last week and were very pleased to announce that in the last year they have raised over £5000 and donated over £6000 to the school!!! We’d like to thank the PTA for all their hard work and dedication. It is a very small band of people that come together to organise all these events and we know that they would appreciate any help that anyone can offer. Please speak to one of the members if you could lend just a little of your time. Aimee Louis will be coming round with a list of stalls that will need covering at the Christmas Fayre. You wouldn’t be on a stall for the whole fayre and would still have plenty of time to go round, so please put your name down to help; we can’t run all the stalls without volunteers.

Posadas and Christingle – You should have all had a leaflet home about the Christingle service on Sunday 1st December at 10am. Please return the slip if you are able to come so that the team at the church know how many Christingles to make. Sandra Mehen has again this year made a beautiful pair of Posadas; this year the characters in the boxes are the three wise men and a camel. If your child would like to take a Posada home for an evening or a weekend, please sign up on the sheet. As ever, there is a little diary in each box for your child to record what they got up to with the Posada figures. Each child who has a turn with the Posada can keep one of the special little stars Sandra has made.
