Bentley Weekly Update 25/01/19

Free Online Safety Magazine – The latest Online Safety Magazine has been added to the website in both the Safeguarding section and the Online Safety pages. We would strongly urge you to read this before Safer Internet Day on 5th February. This really parent friendly magazine, can be found at http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/313994

Parents’ Writing Workshop – Thank you to all those families who turned out on a chilly evening, to join us for the writing workshop earlier this week. A total of 27 people came along from both schools and the feedback we have had, has been really positive.

Messy Church – The benefice in which Bentley sits, have organised their next exciting Messy Church; it will take place on Thursday 21st Feb (during half term), 10am to 1pm at Burstall Village Hall. Please see the poster in the notice board for more information.

Food Survey – We have been asked to share a link with you to a parent survey on the eating habits of primary school children being organised by researchers at Leeds University. If you are willing to take part in the survey, it can be found at https://leeds.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/food-in-the-family-home-2018

Hair and Jewellery – We have had to speak to a number of children in the past couple of weeks about hair and jewellery. Please may we remind you that bright colours in hair is not suitable for school and can be very distracting for others. The only jewellery that is permitted is a small watch and earrings (if they must be worn) must only be small studs, not unicorns, flowers or any other design. Thank you for your support with this.

Can you help us? – As you may have seen, we have a now unused hutch, which used to house the chickens, loitering near the bins. It is past its usefulness and needs to be taken to the tip or put on a bonfire. Would anyone with a large car be willing to help us out with this? Please get in touch with the office if you can.

Super Attendance – (better late than never). Last half term saw the biggest number of children being entered in to the 98% attendance prize draw; congratulations to Edward who won the voucher to go karting at Anglia Karting and our thanks to Anglia Karting for their kind donation.

Bentley Bugle Magazine – Every 2 months, the parish of Bentley produce the Bentley Bugle magazine which features news and events from the village and an update from the school. They very kindly give us a few extra copies to give to families that do not live in the village but there is not enough to go to everyone. If you live outside the village but would like to receive a copy of the magazine in the future, please email the school office.

Fun Learning – The children have thoroughly enjoyed accessing the Times Tables Rockstars and Spelling Shed. Please encourage your child to log on to these at home, as well as at school, as the practice they are putting in really is having an impact on their learning. If you have any trouble logging in at home, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
