Words of The Week

Rec – ‘less’ and ‘both’

Yr1/2 - ‘swagger’ and ‘tongue-tied’

Hedgehogs – ‘decay’ and ‘erosion’

Adders – ‘predecessor’ and ‘diminishing’ (same as last week)

Adders Monday – Just a quick reminder that Adders will be travelling by coach to Flatford Mill on Monday and will need a packed lunch, coat, wellies and a water bottle. They have had an amazing week this week, experienced activities and created memories that will hopefully stay with them for a life time.

Author Visit – We are very excited to confirm that we will be visited by local children’s author, Nicky Moxon, next Thursday. She will be working with the children on writing stories and answering their questions about what it is like to be an author. Nicky will be selling signed copies of her book, Henry Baker and the Football Boots, at the reduced price of just £5. If you would like a copy of the book, please send £5 in a named envelope and your child will receive their copy on the day.

Fundraising – Thank you to everyone who sponsored the brave souls who took on the 5k inflatables challenge a couple of weeks ago. They raised £132.20 from sponsorship for the inflatable run which will go towards our iPad fundraising.  The next exciting social event is the PTA Race Night on the 5th October. Please buy a horse or tickets for our Race Night, all money raised will go towards ipads for our children.

Macmillan – Thank you so, so much for all the wonderful cakes and biscuits donated for this year’s Macmillan coffee and cake event. Watch this space for the total raised! We have been so touched by the generosity of our families this year and the talented bakers we have amongst our parents and grandparents!

Please let us know by email by Monday if your child would like a lunch on this day. Please note, this menu replaces the usual one on this day.

Hedgehogs Library Visit CHANGE OF DETAILS - Parents of children in Hedgehogs class should have received an email about Hedgehogs going on a visit to the library next Wednesday. The time of this visit has changed and we are now going in the morning and will be back by lunchtime so there is no need to specifically provide a packed lunch for this day. A lot of parents have replied already, thank you; if your child already has a library card, it would be very helpful if they could bring it with them on Wednesday.

Data Sheets – Thank you to the vast majority of families who got their data forms back to us by the deadline. The name drawn at random to win the box of chocolates was Jane, Leon’s mum. Jane, just pop into the office and collect your prize! If you are one of the few who have yet to get your forms back in, please do so as soon as you are able please. This is an annual task that schools are legally obliged to carry out. Thank you for your support.

Relationships and Sex Education Update - Thank you to those of you who attended our consultation before the holidays or the event on Wednesday evening at East Bergholt High School. These conversations are important in ensuring we work in partnership to promote the development of healthy, positive relationships for our children. Following these meetings we have now added documentation to our school website for everyone to access. These include the Relationships and Sex Education Policy, PSHE curriculum coverage across each of the year groups, parent support leaflets for both Primary and Secondary. These can be found on the website curriculum page here:
