Copdock Weekly Update 03/05/19

Newsletter – 3rd May 2019

THIS WEEK:

Bikeability:  Year 5 pupils have enjoyed learning how to safely use their bikes on the roads over the last couple of days.  Everyone passed the first stage in the morning on Thursday and was able to progress onto stage 2 – on the roads.  Thankfully the weather stayed dry and they were able to enjoy the experience.  Well done everyone.

Year 6s:  The year 6 pupils have spent a day and a half at Bentley this week where they’ve been able to work with the year 6s there to further enhance their learning ahead of their SATS coming up in a couple of weeks.

NEXT WEEK:

Menu Change:  Don’t forget that Monday is a bank holiday and when we return on Tuesday, the Monday menu will be on offer: Margherita Pizza & Herby Diced Potatoes, or Vegetarian Bean Chilli & Steamed Rice, or Jacket Potato with Beans, followed by Flapjack or Fruit.  The rest of the week will revert to the usual menu per day.

New Parents Induction:  Next Friday afternoon sees the first meeting for the parents of our new intake.  We are looking forward to meeting the families who will be joining us from September.

Book Fair:  We are pleased to let you know that we have secured a local representative from Usborne Children's Books to organise a book fair for the school.  The fair will be held in the school hall from 3.15 next Friday 10th May and the aim is to promote literacy and encourage a love of reading at home and school.  Additionally, the school will benefit by being able to spend 10% of the total amount raised at the book fair for use as school resources.  So please pop in and support the event, we look forward to seeing you there!  Cash and card payments can be accepted on the day and books will be delivered into school shortly afterwards.  And if you can't make it on Friday but would still like to order some books, here is a link to the catalogue:  https://issuu.com/usbornebooksathome/docs/catalogue_2019_issu_usbah_edition_9?e=0  Orders can be made by contacting Genna direct on 07545002478.  Orders placed up until Monday 13th will be included in the school total.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • As you are aware, we are running an after school club on Mondays.  These have been arranged in response to requests from parents.  However, we only had one participant this week.  Whilst we appreciate that this term in particular is a little bit stop and start with bank holidays and PD days, we would have expected a better uptake.  Unfortunately if we do not get any other interest we will be unable to continue the club and will have to rethink the provision going forward.
  • Whilst the Lego Tokens are no longer being printed in the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star from today, we are still collecting them.  Please bring them into school as soon as possible so that we can get them all counted up and submitted by half term.  Thank you for your continued support.
  • Once again, the team at Lego Club has reach the leaderboard on the website for the national competition!  It would be greatly appreciated if you could please go to https://www.kidswithbricks.com/leaderboard and vote for our entry.  Whilst you are there, why not see what goes on and think about whether or not your child might like to join in the autumn term?  Please let the office know if you are interested.
  • Take a look at the information and events section of the website for the poster from Junior Bake Off who are looking for competitors – entries close on Monday so you’d better be fast!
