Copdock Weekly Update 06/12/19

Newsletter – 6th December 2019

THIS WEEK:

Christmas Tree Service:  Thank you to everyone who joined us for our tree service on Monday.  The hall is feeling very Christmassy now!  If you haven’t already selected a tag from the tree to donate a gift to class, please take one.

Wreath Making Night:  We had a record-breaking night making wreaths!  The annual event was attended by 80 people – by far the best year yet for numbers!  An amazing £754 profit was raised including the raffle!  Thank you to everyone who attended, look out for photos on the half termly newsletter.  A huge thank you also goes to the PTA and Nicola Gibbs for organising the event.

NEXT WEEK:

Swimming:  Monday is our last swimming session this term, keep an eye out for details of the sessions in the spring term for years 2, 3 and 4.

Christmas Cake Club:  Next week also sees the last session of the cake club.  Please remember it is an extended session this week until 5:15pm.  We will be sharing photos of the finished cakes in the half termly newsletter.

KS2 Performances:  An email was sent home on Wednesday with details of this year’s performances.  Please ensure you have completed the reply slip to book your tickets and the crèche.  Entry is by ticket only, we are also asking for £1 per ticket to be donated towards the church toilets as detailed in the letter.

Flu Immunisations:  The portal has now closed.  For those of you who gave consent, your child will be immunised on Thursday after lunch.

Christmas Market & Fayre:  Next Friday, the school and PTA are jointly hosting the Christmas Market & Fayre.  Don’t forget it is a Victorian themed event and the children are therefore invited to spend the day in traditional Victorian dress.  Once you have collected your child(ren) from school, please head onto the playground to visit the stalls and events.  KS2 children will be asked to congregate on the top playground where their carol singing will launch the event.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Monday is your last chance to let us know what your child(ren) will be having for lunch on Tuesday 17th December.  If a CHRISTMAS LUNCH has not been ordered by Monday, you will need to provide a packed lunch.
  • In view of the recent chilly mornings, we are looking for some PARENT VOLUNTEERS to help us make the school site safe for the children.  If you think you may be able to give us a little of your time in the mornings spreading salt etc, please let us know your availability.  Thank you in advance.
  • Parents of KS1 children – we are still awaiting some reply slips with regard to COSTUMES FOR THE PLAY – please ensure you return these as a matter of urgency as we need to know which costumes need sourcing, thank you.
  • Please ensure you send your slip in to arrange your tickets for the KS1 PLAY and book places at the crèche if you haven’t already.  Don’t forget we are asking for a £1 donation per ticket to go towards the church toilets.
  • Next Friday will be the last Weekly Update of 2019, we will send out the HALF TERMLY NEWSLETTER the following week.  Please ensure you take a look at this not only for details of what we’ve been doing in class since October, but also for details of what is coming up in the spring term, including after school club arrangements.
  • We will be trialling sending out text messages on Fridays to let you know how much DINNER MONEY is owed.  Moving forward next term, to prevent parents getting into unmanageable arrears, we will not allow dinner money debt to exceed the cost of 5 meals (£12) per pupil.  If the amount owed reaches the £12 limit, you will need to supply your child with a packed lunch as we will not provide any more school dinners until the amount owed is cleared.  In order to facilitate this change, please ensure all dinners for this term are paid up by Thursday 18th December.  Dinners cost £2.40 per day for KS2 children, please send monies into school in a sealed, named envelope through the post-box or the register boxes, both get checked every morning.  If you would prefer, you can pay for meals in advance.  Please contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.
