Copdock Weekly Update 10/05/19

Newsletter – 10th May 2019

THIS WEEK:

New Parents Induction:  This afternoon we welcomed some new families along to our school as part of the induction process for the new starters in September.  The parents came along to find out what to expect and how to prepare for this new chapter in their child’s learning.

Book Fair:  We have also had a local lady bring along her book fair after school today.  10% of sales will be available for the school to spend on resources for school – don’t worry if you missed it, you can still take a look and order until Monday 13th by following this link: https://issuu.com/usbornebooksathome/docs/catalogue_2019_issu_usbah_edition_9?e=0 alternatively you can contact Genna directly on 07545002478.

NEXT WEEK:

SATS Week:  Next Monday sees the start of SATS.  Foxes who have paid for the breakfast are invited in from 8:30am to help them settle.  For those children not directly involved in the testing process, please remember to walk around school quietly to enable the children to focus and concentrate – your understanding is appreciated.

KS2 ASC – Dodgeball:  On Monday we have the ASC which this week will be dodgeball.  Each week, the children will select an event for the following week.  We look forward to seeing more participants on Monday.

Foxes Visit to Park:  As the testing part of the week draws to a close, Foxes will be heading out to Chantry Park on Friday morning for play and a picnic.  Children do not need to wear uniform but will need to bring clothing appropriate to the weather – hats and suncream if the weather is good, or waterproofs if it is not.  Either way, a packed lunch is required.

PTA Race Night:  Don’t forget next Friday is race night.  There is still time to get involved.  Why not pop along to enjoy the fun.  If you can’t make it, why not sponsor a race or even a pig!?!  Contact a member of the PTA for more details.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Please see the letters section of the school website where the Uniform order is available.  Please note, these need to be returned by next Friday 17th.  The order form is also attached to the newsletter email.
  • As you may have heard, Mrs North gave birth to a beautiful little girl last Friday.  She weighed 8lb 5oz and has been named Emiline.  We send Mrs North and her family lots of cheer and can’t wait to meet her.
  • As per our Attendance Policy (available on the website), please contact the office as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.  If you are going to be late dropping your child at school it is important to let us know as soon as possible.  As you know we order dinners from an outside caterer and this has to be done by 9:30am.  If your child is going to arrive later than 9:30am and you have not contacted us, you will need to provide a packed lunch as we cannot alter our dinner order once it has been placed.
  • Whilst the Lego Tokens are no longer being printed we are still collecting them.  Please bring them into school as soon as possible so that we can get them all counted up and submitted by half term.  Thank you!
  • Did you see that Copdock reached 2nd on the leaderboard for Lego Club!?!  How exciting – please continue to check the website each week and vote for our entry via https://www.kidswithbricks.com/leaderboard - it really does mean so much to the builders.
  • Move Suffolk Week – We are very excited to tell you about a fantastic website that has now launched ready for the Move Suffolk Week. Just visit www.movesuffolkweek.com and find a huge range of offers and freebies to encourage you and your family to get moving. Offers are being added almost daily so keep checking the site for activities that might interest you.
