Copdock Weekly Update 19/07/19

Newsletter – 19th July 2019

THIS WEEK:

Squirrels Rewards:  Squirrels class earnt themselves a disco this week and they thoroughly enjoyed their opportunity to share their wonderful dance moves!

Year 4 Rocket Science:  Year 4 spent the day at EBHS designing, producing and programming robots and rockets.

Pleasurewood Hills:  Foxes spent an exciting day at Pleasurewood Hills – luckily it was quiet so they spent more time on rides than in queues!  They enjoyed a sausage and chips supper before heading home exhausted!

Summer Fayre:  As this newsletter is flying into your inbox, our summer fayre is in full swing!  Thank you to everyone who donated cakes or prizes and who attended to help our valuable PTA raise some additional funds for our school.

NEXT WEEK:

Desserts:  As the kitchen winds down for the summer holidays, there will be a selection of desserts available each day – not necessarily what is on the menu for next week.  The usual option of fruit will still be available.  Keep an eye out on the half termly news for a change in the first week back in September.

Kittens Reward:  On Monday afternoon, Kittens will be receiving a reward for their efforts this year – an email has been sent to parents with more details, but remember, “mum” is the word!

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Please ensure all MONIES FOR DINNERS AND TRIPS are paid on MONDAY at the very latest.  We need to ensure the books tally and no cash is left on site over the holidays.  If you have any issues with this, please speak to us.
  • The school have purchased water bottles for every child in the school to be used from September!  Each child will be given a NAMED WATER BOTTLE that will be kept in school to ensure that every child has a water bottle in school every day to use.  This means there will be no need to send a drinks bottle in with your child from September.  If you still wish to send a small drink in with your child's packed lunch, please feel free, or they can simply use their named water bottle.
  • We have been asked to share details of the BROWNIES group in Capel who have a new leader.  The group is aimed at children aged in the 6-9 bracket.  Please see the poster on the website in the Local Clubs and Events section.
  • Our PTA does a fantastic job raising funds for our school.  We should take time to remember that the members are all volunteers.  Many of the PTA TEAM are finishing this summer so we are looking to recruit new members for next year.  If you are interested in joining, or would like to find out more before committing, please contact an existing member or the school office.  Without the PTA many events would not take place during the school year and many of our trips would not be subsidised.
  • Please remember to complete and return the REPORT SLIPS that came home with the Learning Journeys last week.  Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete them and sent them in already.
  • We have been experiencing a few issues with UNIFORM in school recently, including some very strange attire in PE bags!  Please refresh your memory on the school uniform before the new school year, by looking at the guide on the website, or attached to the newsletter email.
  • Please see the GOVERNOR NEWSLETTER attached to the email sent with this update.  This can also be found on the website.
  • Thank you to all the families who bought tickets in the KIDZFEST RAFFLE – our lucky winner was Benjamin Treadaway – we hope the family enjoy their experience this weekend.
  • Whilst the weather is still a little undecided, we endeavour to get the children out at break times even if it is drizzling, therefore please ensure they have a JUMPER/CARDIGAN/WATERPROOF in school with them each day.
  • On September 11th we will be holding a WELCOME INFORMATION EVENING so parents can meet all teachers and other parents informally, starting the year with positive interaction and discussion around life in each class.  More information will be shared about this but please keep the date free.
  • We already have a few things popping onto the calendar for next year – emails have been sent to the relevant classes for those occurring in the first few weeks.  The WEBSITE CALENDAR will be updated ready for the pupils’ return in September.
