Copdock Weekly Update 22/03/19

Newsletter – 22nd March 2019

THIS WEEK:

Phonic Screening Meeting:  A big thank you to all who attended the meeting held on Tuesday, we hope you found it useful.  For those parents who were unable to attend, the presentation can be found on the website.

Owl Assembly:  On Thursday the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary visited us for an assembly.  They brought along Bramble the barn owl to meet us and told us all about them.  Look out for photos in the half-termly news in a couple of weeks.

Able Maths:  Today, 5 of our pupils joined 3 from Bentley and many others from local schools at Handford Hall for a day of maths.  They will have been tested against themselves and gained knowledge from one another.

Audax Cycle Ride:  Thank you to those of you who have already donated food for the event tomorrow, and to those who have agreed to help on the day.  We hope the weather stays fine for the cyclists and everyone has a successful day.

NEXT WEEK:

Parent Consultations:  The option to book slots via the website has now passed.  If you have yet to book a slot, please contact the school office as soon as possible to find availability.  Please ensure you take note of when your appointment is, there is very little opportunity to rearrange if an appointment is missed.

Chocolate Bingo:  The deadline for slips for the chocolate bingo was today.  If you’ve just realised you haven’t sent your form in, either send a quick email to the school office or contact the PTA via their Facebook page.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • If you have yet to complete the Free School Meal entitlement form, there is still time to do so.  If eligible, the entitlement assists not just families, but also the school, on an on-going basis.  Please return the completed form (available on the school website) to the office as soon as possible.  If you would like more details please contact the office.  All information remains confidential throughout the process.
  • There is still time to enter the ballot for tickets to the Ipswich game against Birmingham City on Saturday 13th April when Copdock Primary School will be the ITFC School of the Day!  The deadline for entries into the ballot for a pair of tickets is Friday 29th March.  Please contact the school office to enter.
  • We still have a long way to go to reach our target of 1000 Lego Tokens!  There are tokens every day in the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star.  There are bonus tokens today (Friday 22nd) in the Star and next Tuesday in both papers!  Additional tokens are published on regular occasions, the dates of these can be found on the information section of our website – keep an eye out for when they are published to boost our numbers.
  • Following recent policy updates, our Pupil Premium and Educational Visits Policies have been revised and the current versions are available now on the school website for your information.
  • We have been notified of a new resource to help keep your child safe online.  Follow the link for more details:  https://parentinfo.org/article/nca-ceop-s-new-jessie-friends-resource-to-help-keep-your-child-safer-online.
  • We are considering spreading some wild flower seeds along the mound beside the field.  Amongst them we thought we might include a ribbon of poppies.  Please read the letter attached to the newsletter email, also available on the website.  If you would like to contribute, please send in your seed money in a sealed envelope.
  • As a school we have slipped to 14th on the national leaderboard for our entries into the weekly competition with Lego Club.  Please head over to the Kids With Bricks website and take a look, vote for our builds and see us climb back up the leaderboard.  We are still considering whether or not to run the club in September so please do get in touch with the school office if your child would be interested.
