Copdock Weekly Update 26/04/19

Newsletter – 26th April 2019

THIS WEEK:

Farm & Country Fair:  Woodpeckers joined their classmates from Bentley for a trip to Trinity Park on Thursday, along with many other schools in the county.  Although the weather was cooler they still had a fabulous day at the Farm and Country Fair.  The children were very excited to meet many different animals and to learn about the local farmland.

Sharing Assemblies:  The new schedule for the sharing assemblies this term is now on the school website and a hardcopy is available in the office window.  Please note, it has been revised since the version sent out with the half termly news, therefore a new copy is attached to the newsletter email – the website and hardcopy have been updated with the latest version.  Assemblies take place in the school hall on a Friday starting at 2:45pm unless otherwise stated.

NEXT WEEK:

After School Club:  Next week sees the start of the after school club on a Monday.  This term will be KS2 athletics running from 3:15 until 4:15pm.  The cost will be £15 for the 5 sessions until sports day, half price for siblings.  Please note that these sessions are interrupted by bank holidays and the PD day immediately after half term.

Guitar Lessons:  For those children continuing with guitar lessons these begin again next Thursday.  There will be 4 sessions up to half term.  Please send in £15 to cover the lessons as you had one cancelled last term.  If any new starters would like to take up guitar (from KS2) please contact the office as soon as possible.

Bikeability:  Year 5 pupils will be taking part in Bikeability next Thursday and Friday.  Please check the letter on the website http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/331487 for details and ensure a set of dry clothes are sent in as they will ride even in wet weather.

Year 6s:  While the year 5 pupils will be riding their bikes, their classmates will be taken over to Bentley to do their learning.  They will be transported from Copdock in the minibus on both Thursday and Friday mornings.  They will spend the whole day at Bentley on Thursday but will return before the end of school.  A hot dinner will be available at Bentley.  On the Friday, year 6 will spend the morning at Bentley, and will return before lunch.  A hot dinner will be available when they return to Copdock.

Forest Schools:  From next Friday, KS1 children will need their Forest Schools change of clothes in school every Friday.

Parent Briefing:  Don’t forget we are trialling a parent briefing in the hall at 8:45am on Fridays just as a quick update on events happening the following week.  It is brief and informal, please just turn up.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Today sees us saying farewell to Mrs North who begins her maternity leave.  Hopefully we will be able to give you baby news in next week’s update!  We were also able to celebrate a very special birthday for Mrs Lloyd this weekend!  We celebrated with a tea party and an extended playtime.
  •  We are coming to the end of the Lego Tokens from the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star.  The final date for them being published is the 3rd May when there will be bonus tokens available.  So only one week to go to reach our target.  Please ensure you send them in promptly so that we can count them all up before the submission deadline.
  • For those pupils in Foxes, you have been invited to come in early for a special breakfast ahead of your SATS next month.  Please remember that this is organised voluntarily by some of the parents and not the school, therefore the request for monies is to reimburse those who have purchased the items.  If you have not paid for the breakfast you will be unable to eat anything but are still welcome to attend.
  • Please remember not to send anything containing nuts into school for snacks or as part of a packed lunch.  We have children who are allergic to nuts and therefore have a strict no nut policy.
  • Just to give you a heads up, the menu on the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday will be slightly different – the Monday option will be available on the Tuesday.  The remainder of the week will be the usual menu choices.
  • Our Easter Trail on the last day of term raised £41 for the PTA pot!  Thank you for your continued support.
  • Snack shop will re-open from Monday.  Low sugar, low salt savoury snacks such as rice cakes and crackers are available to purchase for 10p per item with a maximum spend of 20p.
  • Following feedback from parents, this year’s PTA Race Night will be open to all ages.  The event will be held at the Copdock Cricket Pavilion on Friday 17th May with the family-friendly start time of 6pm.  The action packed evening will include live action Pig & Unicorn racing.  If you’d be interested in purchasing a pig, or sponsoring a race please get in touch with a member of the PTA.  Thank you.
