Copdock Weekly Update 29/03/19

Newsletter – 29th March 2019

THIS WEEK:

Parent Consultations:  Thank you to all those parents and children who took the time to book and attend our parent consultations this week.  It is a really good opportunity to share our learning and progress with home.

Great British Spring Clean:  The school has been asked to share the following message with you:

“Our village has an ever-growing band of helpers who have had enough of other people’s rubbish, and are willing to donate their time to assist with clearing litter from our streets, verges and children’s playgrounds.  Please do support us on Saturday, 30th March between 10am and 12 noon.  We will meet at the Church Room in The Street, where rubbish sacks, litter pickers and hi-vis vests will be available (bring your own gloves).  Upon returning to the Church Room, sit a while to chat with other volunteers and enjoy our delicious seasonal refreshments.”

PTA Chocolate Bingo:  Don’t forget to come along tomorrow afternoon for the annual Chocolate Bingo!  Please see the email sent on Thursday with a few more details of the day included on it.  If you have yet to reserve your ticket please contact a member of the PTA team as soon as possible.

NEXT WEEK:

Flute Assembly:  On Wednesday at 9am Foxes will be performing what they have been working on in their flute lessons this term.  Parents are invited in to hear them sharing their recital.

IPSSA Cross Country:  As per the letter sent last month, pupils will be transported to the Royal Hospital School (unless otherwise advised) after lunch, therefore they are able to have a hot dinner if so desired.  Please ensure children have their running trainers, plenty of water and at least a top to put on whilst they are waiting.  Parents are welcome to attend to watch but please do not leave the site with your child until they have been signed out by the teacher present.  We would also appreciate a parent volunteering to help marshal the event.

Guitar Lessons:  This week sees the final guitar lesson of this half term.  Would you please indicate whether or not your child would like to continue from Easter until the Whitsun half term.  If anybody else would be interested in taking lessons up, please notify the office as soon as possible.

Easter Lunch:  Due to an administrative error the Easter Lunch is no longer available next Thursday so the options will be as per the usual menu week 3 – chicken curry or cheesy pasta.  However, there will be a change to the dessert – instead of the toffee cream tart there will be Easter cupcakes and Easter biscuits.

Antarctica Landscape:  KS1 parents are invited in from 3pm on Thursday afternoon to take a look at the Antarctica landscape as created by the pupils.

Easter Egg Hunt:  Don’t forget the school and PTA are running a joint event on Friday afternoon.  The PTA will be offering an informal tea to parents from 1:30pm prior to joining their children on the trail.  The trail will run from 2pm costing £1 per pupil.  Any children who would like to take part but their adult is unable to attend will be paired up with an older child for the event.

Easter Headwear Parade:  After the Easter Egg Hunt, we will be hosting the Easter Headwear Parade from 2:30pm so make sure you bring your creation with you!  You can devise any type of headwear from a traditional bonnet to a modern cap or just a headband – the scope and scale of your creation is left to your imagination – we look forward to seeing what you come up with.  The parade will be followed by an assembly where the result of the ITFC ballot will be shared.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Last week’s Audax Cycle Ride raised over £300 from refreshment sales!  A huge thank you to parents who donated their time and cakes to help raise this money.
  • On Saturday 13th April, Copdock Primary School will be the ITFC School of the Day for the match against Birmingham City.  The ballot is now closed.  Those who have successfully gained a pair of tickets will be notified during the assembly following the Easter Headwear Parade next Friday afternoon.
  • For parents of children in year 2, please see the email sent earlier re Authors Club to run next half term.  Please let the office know if your child would be interested in attending.
  • Please keep sending in your Lego Tokens from the East Anglian Daily Times and the Ipswich Star.  There will be many bonus tokens coming up over the Easter holidays.  The list of dates is on the school website.
  • Thank you to those who have already contributed to our proposed ribbon of poppies.  Please read the letter attached to the last week’s newsletter email, also available on the website, for more details.  If you would like to contribute, please send in your seed money in a sealed envelope.
  • After the Easter holidays a new menu will come into effect.  This has been attached to the newsletter email and is also available on the school website.  Please familiarise yourself and the children with it for the week commencing 23rd April.  However, on the first day back, the kitchen are offering sweetcorn instead of the mixed salad and coleslaw.  The current menu still stands for next week (week 3).  Hard copies are available from the office on request.
  • Following interviews earlier this week we have appointed a new teacher from September.  Further details to follow shortly.
