Squirrels learn about Sukkot

This half term we are learning about Judaism and finding out about how and why Jewish people pray. In the last two weeks we have been buildung our own Sukah, a special shelter made by Jewish people to celebrate Sukkot. This is a little bit like Christian Harvest Festival. Jewish people remember the journey their ancestors took many years ago when they travelled across the desert. As they had no where to sleep they made little huts which they could take with them along the way. This journey is remembered at Sukkot, where shelters are bulit and decorated and friends are welcomed in to share the celebrations.

Our pictures how our Sukkah. Isabelle is waving the Lulav (leaves) and Etrog (fruit) to remember the Jewish belief that God is everywhere and will always provide for his people.
