Copdock World Book Day

On Friday 9th March we celebrated World Book Day (after having to prospone for a week due to the excitement of the snow!)

KS1 were invited to dress up as either a Victorian or a character from a Victorian story for the day as Squirrels' class topic is currently the Victorians. KS2 dressed up as their favourite book character. The costumes were brilliant.

All children gathered in the hall together in the morning and were partnered up with another child from a different class. The children then had a choice of books and sat and shared a story together. The older children were reading to the younger children and they all agreed that it was lovely to read with somebody different.

KS1 spent the rest of the day continuing to explore their topic of the Victorian's and this involved  looking at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson, the first female doctor. We also watched a short clip of the original Alice in Wonderland film. We were then joined by some parents and govenor, Dennis, who read the children some books which are their favourites from home!

Woodpeckers were also exploring stories and were also busy learning the story of Little Red Riding Hood in French! The children then acted this out together in the hall.

Foxes were involved in a 'Book Off' where they had to explain and review the books they had read to each other. Dennis, one of our govenors, also came into Foxes class to read a book with them.
