Bentley weekly update 06/05/16

becca.jpgFollowing interviews last week we look forward to welcoming Miss Becca Wilding to Bentley School from September 2016. Becca has previous experience of teaching children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Through her specialism in outdoor education she has also worked across the wider primary age range in the past few years. She is very excited about joining our school team and I am sure you will join us in welcoming Becca during her visits over the coming weeks.

The interviews were supported by three of our children, Nathan, Charlie and Dylan, who were extremely professional in their approach. Not only did they have fantastic questions but they were also able to follow up answers with additional questions too. Some super skills which will support them well into future life. Well done boys.

After half term, we are hoping to go to the field every Tuesday afternoon for PE and would really appreciate some parental help in walking all the children up there safely and being another pair of hands during the session. If you feel able to help whether it be for just one week or a number of weeks, please get in touch. Thank you in anticipation.

Kingswood - If your child is in current years 4 and 5, they will be excited I'm sure about their residential trip to Kingswood in November. We have to date only received a handful of payments in addition to the initial deposit and we just wanted to give you a gentle reminder that the remainder of the trip cost is payable by the end of the school term, July 21st, by the very latest. Please send payments in with the payment card that was sent to you so we can update it for your own records.

Ascension Day was a great success and we are very grateful to Craig Whale, Rev. Don Mehen and Governor Ruth Lincoln for their support with all the activities. The crosses that the children made and decorated that you can see in the photo will be displayed in the school hall for all to see.

Educate and Celebrate logoNext week is SATs week and we would like to provide the children with as quiet an environment as we can. If you have a non-urgent enquiry, we would be very grateful if you could email in rather than call, especially in the mornings. Emails will be checked regularly.

Educate and Celebrate Award - As you are aware, we have been working towards achieving our best practice award in equality as part of the Educate and Celebrate project. Children and staff have been sharing a range of books and songs that explore diversity and individuality, emphasising the importance of accepting everyone for who they are. We have been invited to a small award ceremony at Ipswich Library on 23rd May, where children will have the opportunity to share some of their work and sing a song. Murryfield Primary School will also be present to join the fun. We will be presented with our certificate as part of this event.

We hope to take a group of children, who will be singing and sharing, in the school minibus about 3pm, ready for the 4pm start. However, everyone is welcome to attend to celebrate the learning that has taken place this year. If your child is interested in taking part we may have already contacted you but please let us know if you are able to come along. The more the merrier! We would like parents to collect children from the library at about 5.15pm. However, we may also be able to bring children back for collection if this provides a challenge. We look forward to seeing you there!

Have a lovely weekend, let’s hope the weather lasts!
