Bentley Weekly Update 11/10/19

Words of The Week

Rec – ‘empty’ and ‘above’

Yr1/2 - ‘pollution’ and ‘community’

Hedgehogs – ‘negative’ and ‘positive’

Adders – ‘perish’ and ‘desiccate’

Dinner money – We will be trialling sending out text messages on Fridays to let you know how much dinner money is owed. We hope this will be more useful to parents than just the reminder slips that can be lost in bags. Moving forward, to prevent parents getting into unmanageable arrears, we will not allow dinner money debt to exceed the cost of 5 meals (£12). If the amount owed reaches the £12 limit, you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch as we will not provide any more school dinners until the amount owed is cleared.

Reception – Please don’t forget to attend your parent consultations with Mrs Rudge next week, please call the office if you have forgotten your time slot. Reception Phonics Workshop is at 2pm on Wednesday.

Wolves – Next week the Yr1 and 2 spelling test will be on Thursday, as will the 5 read check.

Hedgehogs – 5 reads will be checked on Thursday. Please check log books for details on when spellings and homework are due.

Adders – Year 6 Science Day on Tuesday, all Year 6 pupils will need a packed lunch. All Adders to the BT Crumble Robot Day on Thursday; all Adders will need a packed lunch. Please be aware there may be a chance that Adders will arrive back at school a little late on Thursday; the event finishes at 3pm so traffic may impede the journey back from Martlesham.

Hammers Wanted – We have some projects coming up for both DT and Eco, such as making bird houses, and we have a shortage of hammers in our DT cupboard. If you have an old spare hammer at home that you no longer use, we would be very grateful for it.

Bentley Fireworks – Following the great success of the last few years, the village will be holding a fireworks display again on the Parish Field, behind the school field. This year’s event will take place during half term, on Saturday 26th October.

Special Bonfire Lunch – On Tuesday 5th November there will be a special Bonfire Lunch. Please see the posters up in the playground for details. If your child would like a lunch on this day, please let the office know by Tuesday 29th October at the latest. Please note, this will replace the published menu for this day.

New Menu – The new menu that starts when we get back from the half term break will be emailed to you all next week. We send these out electronically to save paper, but if you do particularly want a paper version, please do get in touch and we will get one printed off for you.

Secret Stocking Christmas Club and Christmas Cake Club – Letters will be coming home next week about these fun annual clubs. They are both generally very popular and places get taken up quite quickly, so please do look out for the letters.
