Bentley Weekly Update 13/09/19

Words of The Week

Rec – ‘same’ and ‘all’

Yr1/2 - ‘confident’ and ‘successful’

Hedgehogs – ‘reconcile’ and ‘secure’

Adders – ‘sustainable’ and ‘conservation’

Meet the Teachers - Thank you to all parents who attended the parents welcome event on 11th September; we were pleased that so many of you were able to attend. We have heard some positive feedback from some of you but please do send us any further comments you may wish to share. As always, we appreciate that having more than one child makes it difficult to attend both classes. Hopefully you still got a chance to speak to teachers from other classes too. We will be adding the information leaflets to the website so you can access them electronically at your leisure; they can be found on the class pages Thank you once again for attending. We look forward to working in partnership with you this year and beyond.

Roll Up, Roll Up, The Circus Is Coming! – Many of you will remember that we were visited here at Bentley by Circus Ferrel a few years ago. Well this year they are visiting us again, but this time setting up camp at Copdock Village Hall from Monday 23rd September to Wednesday 25th September. On Tuesday 24th, all children will have the chance to travel in the school mini-bus to see them and take part in some exciting circus skills workshops. The Circus will be putting on 2 performances of their show; the first will be at 6pm on Monday 23rd, the second at 3:45pm on Wednesday 25th. Tickets are £8 on the door but the school offices have tickets available to purchase at the reduced rate of just £6 per person! During the live performances, children have the opportunity to take part in the shows and demonstrate the skills they have learnt. Please see the letter attached to the newsletter email for more details.

Horrible Histories – Adders class had a truly fantabulous time at the Regent’s Theatre this week as they immersed themselves in the world of the Awful Egyptians. The production was fantastic with a 3D section that made you believe mummies were coming right at you!

Values Leaflets - Many of you will already be familiar with the fact that we look at different values each half term as  focus in our learning and for assemblies. This half term the value is ‘Generosity’. Please have a look at the leaflet attached to the newsletter email as it gives ideas and activities you can do at home to explore this value further. All the leaflets for the year are on the Christian Ethos page of the website http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/page/christian-ethos/21108

Topic Plans – Topic plans are now available on the class pages of the website. These are useful for exploring our topics further at home.

Tapestry – Parents of children in Reception have been sent a link to activate their Tapestry account. If anyone is having any issues getting logged on, please speak to Mrs Rudge.

Adventure Week, Adders – A letter has gone home with children in Adders Class with all the details about Adventure week. Please ensure payment and permissions are all returned by next Friday, 20th September. Thank you.

Fencing and Archery – All children in years 2 – 6 will be taking part in workshops on Friday 27th September. They will be transported to Copdock by mini-bus or a staff member’s car. They will be brought back to Bentley in time for the Macmillan Coffee and Cake event that afternoon.

Annual Documents – You will have been sent the annual documents that need completing and returning by next Friday, 20th September. All completed packs returned by the deadline will go into a draw to win a box of chocolates. These documents are incredibly important and schools have a legal obligation to ensure they hold the correct data for pupils. Thank you in anticipation for your co-operation.

KS2 Football – The after school club this half term is football for KS2. A number of children came along to the free taster session this week and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. If your child would like a place in the club, the fees will be just £15 for the half term. Sessions will run on Tuesdays straight after school. We hope to use the field (weather permitting) so collection will be from the field at 4:15pm. A few people have booked places on the club already; if your child would like a place please let us know by this coming Monday, 16th Sept.

Ground Sheets – If you have a large ground sheet that we could borrow for the Year 5/6 Big Top Sleepover, please let us know; we would be very grateful.
