Remembrance Assembly:  We had some visitors into school this week to discuss remembrance and to answer some of the children’s questions.  Poppies are on sale before and after school.

Maths Workshop & Shared Learning:  Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended our maths workshops in class and our shared learning session this afternoon.  We hope you found it useful.

NEXT WEEK:

Bonfire Lunch:  To mark Bonfire Night our kitchen have offered us a special menu.  Numbers were needed at the beginning of this week for children to be able to participate on Tuesday.

Open the tent:  Woodpeckers will be having a special treat on Tuesday when they will be taken by minibus to Sproughton Church to hear some traditional Hindu stories.  Children will be back in school in time for their lunch, hot or cold.

Federation Recycling Day:  Next Thursday the children will be creating and sharing an exhibition focussed around plastic pollution and recycling, promoting responsibility.  Parents are invited to visit the exhibition to be held at Copdock Village Hall from 2:15pm.  ALL children will need to be collected from the Village Hall at 3:15pm.  Anyone attending after school club will be brought back by minibus – please confirm to the office those children requiring a lift.

Foundation Shared Learning:  On Friday afternoon, parents of Foundation children are invited into school at 2pm to take part in a maths workshop and to share their children’s learning afterwards.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • It is really important that you label all items of clothing, especially uniform.  When clothing gets left on the field or in the corridors it can only be returned to the correct child if it is labelled.  We do have some items of LOST PROPERTY and some other items that have been donated from previous students.  Should any of this 2nd hand uniform be of any use, please take a look.  We do ask for a small (suggested £2) donation to the school.
  • Last month we sent an email to parents regarding CGP BOOKS for Foxes.  The books have now arrived in school.  If you haven’t yet sent in the £6 could you please do so as soon as possible.
  • Please remember to continue to send in any ALDI STICKERS to fill our wall chart.
  • In a couple of weeks’ time we will be hosting the first PARENT CONSULTATION EVENINGS of the year.  Please keep an eye on the weekly newsletter for notification of when bookings open.  For those new to the school, slots are bookable through the school website, so please ensure you are able to log onto the parent section beforehand.  If you have any access issues please contact the office so that we can resolve them prior to releasing the slots.
  • Don’t forget if your child is in reception that their FIRST CLASS PHOTO will be in the East Anglian and Ipswich Star next Tuesday.  You should already have received some vouchers to enable you to purchase the paper at a discounted rate.
  • This half term we are looking at the theme of TRUST as our Christian Value.  Please follow the link on the Ethos page of our website to find some activity sheets which you can use at home to explore this theme further: http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/uploads/248/files/HomeSchoolValues-TRUST(1).pdf
  • As per the email sent earlier this week, KS1 FOREST SCHOOLS will take a break and return in the spring term.
  • As part of our active school’s agenda we are taking part in the GET SET TRAVEL TO TOKYO CHALLENGE.  We are asking for children to log their activity outside of school in a virtual trip to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics.  By visiting the website they can log their own activity towards their class target, whilst including any other members of the family that have taken part with them.  The aim is to inspire families to be active together.  There is also a range of fun 10 minute activities to try which can also be logged on the tracker.  We will be introducing this to the children next week and hope you will support us in ensuring the children become more active.  Use the link https://www.getset.co.uk/travel-tokyo to log your activity.  The school postcode is IP8 3HY (we have entered as one school so we can all share the challenge and see how each other are getting on).  Good Luck!
