Copdock Weekly Update 15/11/19

Newsletter – 15th November 2019

THIS WEEK:

Anti-Bullying Week:  It has been very strange to see so many children wearing odd socks this week in support of anti-bullying week, but also very reassuring.  Thank you to everyone who took part.

Open Events:  This week’s open events for next year’s new starters were well attended, thank you to all the children who helped showcase our school.

School Photos:  Everybody brought their beaming smiles with them for school photos this week.  Please keep an eye out for proofs coming home soon, and ensure you return them prior to the date to ensure delivery.

Children In Need:  Today the children came to school dressed in bright clothes all to raise money for Children in Need.  From the donations received to date, we have raised £75.02 – thank you for your donations.

NEXT WEEK:

Tag Rugby:  Please note that this event has been cancelled due to water-logged pitches.  All Foxes will remain at Copdock for the day.  We apologise for any inconvenience, but this was out of our hands.

Computational Thinking:  Year 4 will be spending the day at Adastral Park next Friday to take part in the annual “Computational Thinking Day”.  Children will need to wear their school uniform, and bring a packed lunch.  They are due back to school at 3:30pm but please be advised this is very much dependant on traffic.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • 10 children from years 5 and 6 have taken part in the PRIMARY MATHS CHALLENGE today.  The results will go through to see if anyone gets invited to the bonus round.  Results of individual tests will be shared with the children soon.
  • Please note that we have changed the start time of the FAMILY SHARING ASSEMBLY on Friday December 13th to 9am as we will be using the hall etc for the preparations for the Christmas Market and Fayre that afternoon.
  • We apologise for any confusion with the launch of the PARENT CONSULTATIONS on the website last week.  There was an issue in the background which did not become apparent until it was launched.  If you have yet to book a slot, please log onto the website and book.  If you have any issues with logging on or booking a slot please do get in contact with us so that we can resolve the issue.
  • Our local Village Hall committee are looking to recruit new members.  They are holding an EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING on Monday 2nd December at 7:30pm in the lounge at the Village Hall.  Please do come along if you feel you can offer some help.
  • CHRISTMAS UPDATE:
  1. We are appealing for clean/empty JAM JARS please – these will be used to create lots of wonderful goods for the fayre.
  2. In conjunction with the PTA, we are hosting a VICTORIAN THEMED DAY on Friday 13th December.  Children are invited to come into school dressed in Victorian attire.  The climax of the day will be the Victorian-style Market and Fayre to be held on the school playground at the end of the school day.  Please see posters in book bags, around school and the village for more details.
  3. We are also raising money for the Copdock Church toilet, as OUR CHARITY THIS YEAR.
  4. After the Christmas Tree Service, we will be placing TAGS on the tree.  You will be able to select or share a tag with a request on it for a class present.  The presents will then be kept under the tree until each class is invited to open their presents.
  5. We are well under-way with preparations for the KS1 CHRISTMAS PLAY.  More details will be out soon with regards to costumes etc.
