Copdock Weekly Update 27/09/19

Newsletter – 27th September 2019

THIS WEEK:

Activity Week:  It has been an exciting week for Foxes with various events going on.  They are fairly worn out from sailing, walking, fencing, and ‘sleeping’ in the big top!  Keep an eye out for the half termly news coming your way in a few weeks for more information and photos from the week.  Thank you for keeping up with the varied logistics and requirements.

Circus Workshops:  The whole school took part in trying out circus skills on Tuesday.  Again there will be photographic evidence on the half termly news!

Fencing Workshop:  The children in years 2 and up have all had the opportunity to have a go at fencing today.  For those who haven’t already paid their £2, please send this in on Monday – for Foxes, it was included in their activity week fee.

MacMillan Coffee Event:  A huge thank you to everyone who has donated today, whether it be cakes, cash or time, we truly appreciate the effort.  It was lovely to see so many people turn out and for the children to be able to demonstrate their talents to such a receptive audience.  We will update you on how much was raised in next week’s newsletter.  If you were unable to attend, but would like to donate, please text YUM JKM3 to 70550 to donate £5* (*Texts cost £5 + standard network charge.  MacMillan receives 100% of every £1 donated in this way.)

NEXT WEEK:

Flatford Mill Trip:  To round off Activity Week, Foxes are off to Flatford to further their learning.  They will need to bring a packed lunch and a drink.  They should come in casual clothing including a coat, and bring a pair of wellies.  Please note their anticipated return time is 3:30pm to school on Monday.

Space Explorers Menu:  This Thursday we have a special menu for you.  Please see the posters up around school or attached to the newsletter email.  The cost is the same as the usual hot offerings.  PLEASE ENSURE YOU EMAIL THE OFFICE TO ORDER BY MONDAY!  It’s a great opportunity to try something different!

Flu Immunisation:  Hopefully you will all have read the letter last week regarding the upcoming flu immunisations and taken the necessary action to ensure the school nursing team are aware of your wishes.

Whole Class Assembly:  Next Friday sees the first of our Whole Class Assemblies.  Foxes will be taking to the floor at 2:45pm to share their recent experiences with families and friends – everyone welcome.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Thank you to those of you who attended our RELATIONSHIPS AND SEX EDUCATION consultation before the holidays or the event on Wednesday evening at East Bergholt High School.  These conversations are important in ensuring we work in partnership to promote the development of healthy, positive relationships for our children.  Following these meetings we have now added documentation to our school website for everyone to access.  These include the Relationships and Sex Education Policy, PSHE curriculum coverage across each of the year groups, parent support leaflets for both Primary and Secondary.  These can be found on the website curriculum page here : http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/page/relationships-and-sex-education/57640
  • Please ensure you return the DATA COLLECTION FORMS handed out a couple of weeks ago.  You may have missed the deadline for the box of chocolates competition, but it is essential that the school holds up to date information.  The winner of the box of chocolates was
  • The parish meeting on Saturday was well received.  The PTA RAISED OVER £80 for their refreshments.  A huge thank you to those that helped and contributed.
  • Thank you to the two Anna’s for organising the RELOCATION OF OUR CHICKENS – the children are really enjoying having them close-by and being able to see them everyday at break times.
  • Could you please send in any washed/clean PLASTIC BOTTLE TOPS which we are looking to use in art to create an amazing sculpture.
  • Can we please remind you about the ECO BRICKS that we are asking children to make and bring in by the end of term.  If you would like to see an example, we have one in the office.
  • All parents are invited to attend the next PTA MEETING which will be held on Thursday 10th October at 8pm at school.  The support we receive from the PTA for our trips and extra-curricular activities is really important and welcomed, however, our PTA is dwindling.  We need new families to join us.  Without the PTA we would have to lose many of the ‘extras’ that have been taken for granted for many years, and the price of trips would be increased.  Please help us to help you by coming along to the meeting and seeing how you could be involved.
