Bentley Weekly Update 8.9.2023

Important Information to Share

Sharing assembly

Family Sharing Assemblies begin next week, 15th September, 2.45pm. Please see attached the rota for this year.

Morning Drop off - It has been lovely seeing the children come into the school grounds so confidently this week. Don't forget, if you would like your child (Year 1 to Year 6) to walk into school on their own, staff will be available to supervise them on the playground.

After School PE Club and Lunchtime Football Club

After School club PE re-starts on Tuesday 12th September to Tuesday 17th October, from 3.15 to 4.15pm.  This will be open to years 4 to 6.  Please let us know if your child would like to sign up for this.

Monday football club will also resume on a Monday lunchtime from September.  This is for year 1 to 6, and there will be a small charge of £12 for this for 10 sessions from 11th September to 20th November.  Again, please let us know and sign up if interested. Payment can be made via cash, cheque or spider. (Reception children will have a session after lunch as part of their curriculum.)

Worship Group - starts Tuesday 19th September

PE this term - staff have added details to their class blog for next week so don't forget to check in later today. Children will need to come to school dressed in their PE kit. They do not need uniform to change into but older children may want to change their t-shirt for hygiene reasons.

Wolves - Monday and TuesdayHedgehogs - Monday and Tuesday (swimming kit also needed for Yr 3& 4 Monday);   Adders - Monday and Tuesday

School attendance is extremely important but if a child is not feeling 100% it can be a difficult decision whether to send them to school or not. The NHS has a useful guide to support parents decisions about when it might be appropriate to keep their child at home. https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/

Parent Workshops
Please find attached information about forthcoming parent workshops from The Psychology in Schools Team and the Under 18s Wellbeing Team. There are a range of themes to explore including supporting children with anxiety, behaviour and emotional challenges.

REMINDERS!!!!

Don't forget our important welcome back meeting 13th September 6pm. All teachers will be available to support you to embed a positive start to the year for both you and your children. Confirm attendance here. https://forms.office.com/e/fbHvnXKHbP

Dinners - please ensure all KS2 dinners are paid for at the end of each week so a large balance does not build up.

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!

Wolves: Drawing, Keyboard

Hedgehogs: compare, settlement

Adders: taxonomy, kingdom

Monday 11th September - lunchtime football club - need to sign up

Tuesday 12th September - after school PE club - need to sign up

Christmas Cake Club - We would like to run this after half term but need adult helpers for each session to make it possible. It is an opportunity for Y3-Y6 to design and make their own Christmas cake to take home to share. Usually runs for 5 weeks and costs approx £20 for all sessions and of course the cake! We need to know now if you could help make it possible... please let us know!

Learners of the week

All children have worked hard this week to settle back into school life, reboot their brain muscles and show resilience with the hot weather. They are all Super Learners!

Next week we will be sharing who has demonstrated particular strength in our learning behaviour focus: Enjoy Learning

Our news will be sent out during the morning so you can attend the sharing assembly if you would like to and are able to at 2.45pm.

I've Been Valued

This half term our value in Collective Worship is all about 'thankfulness'. Our family leaflet is available here.
