Welcome to the second week of term.

You will need to wear your PE kit on MONDAY and TUESDAY this week for PE; Ben will teach you on Monday and I will teach you on Tuesday.  Please make sure that ALL uniform is named (especially PE jumpers).

Do not forget to practise all the notes you have learnt so far on your clarinet and BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT IN ON THURSDAY.

The learning behaviour this week is 'Tuning in' and our value this half term is 'Perseverance'.  Our words this week are: 'archaic' and  'Hellenistic'.

Our homework day is FRIDAY.  This week's homework (to be given out on FRIDAY 17th JANUARY 2025) is:

  • Maths: Y5: Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers; Y6: Comparing and Ordering Fractions.
  • Writing: Please watch this VIDEO explaining subordinating complex sentence (from 4mins 24 seconds to 5mins 55 seconds).  The images for each sentence type are also below.  I would like you to write five sentences about the picture of Odysseus and the cyclops (shown below). The task will be explained in detail in your homework book.  You must write using black handwriting pen and make sure that your presentation is of a high standard (clearly written handwriting and correct spellings).
  • Spelling Sheet - recapping Y3/4 Common Exception Words.
  • Practise the third column of the Year 5/6 Common Exception Words. 
  • Use TTRockstars to practise your times tables - you MUST know these!!  If you don't, you need to go on here EVERYDAY.
  • Read for Pleasure at least FIVE times this week and record this in your Log Book for our Reading Giants challenge.  Ask a grown up to sign your book.
