What should I do if I think my child has SEND?
If you have any concerns you need to come and talk to us. Contact your class teacher by asking for a chat, emailing or a phone call. If you feel that you need more information, contact the school SENDCo. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with parents/carers, aiming to be open and honest, and hope that parents/carers are able to do the same as us.
At our schools we acknowledge the importance of the early identification of Special Educational Needs, as outlined in the SEN Code of Practice 2014.
- In the autumn term that the pupils enter Early Years Foundation Stage, we identify any possible language difficulties by administering Language Link screening which is a measure of communication and understanding. Following identified weaknesses, speech and language provision will be put into place and may consist of individual or small group support.
- Pupils who are experiencing difficulties are identified through discussion with parents/carers, observations and discussions with colleagues.
