Friday 27th March Hedgehogs

Date: 26th Mar 2020 @ 11:01pm

Good morning Hedgehogs!

Please have a look at the learning links and ideas for today. Remember to be as active as possible and read lots. There are also extra activities you can look at in the image below that you may also want to try today!

Daily Challenge: Make a shadow puppet and perform a show!

  • Morning Wake and Shake!

Live PE lesson with Joe Wicks - The Body Coach at 9am. See the link below for more information. Just type 'PE with Joe' into YouTube search to find it.

  • English tasks:

Try to read for at least 20 minutes on your own or to an adult this morning and spend 10 minutes on Spelling Shed.

Can you continue writing a story about this robot? Try to   include direct speech and descriptive language.

When you have finished, go back and edit and improve your   writing. Why not also write it up in best? You could even   make your own book!

Try and use expanded noun phrases (adjective + adjective +   noun), similes (like or as something else) and alliteration (red   rust, rocky rubble).

Remember to put inverted commas (“  ”) around the words   spoken.

(Time to take a break and have some fun!)

  • Maths Task:

20 minutes on TTRs – have a go in the Studio to set your Rock Speed today and also try to complete at least one Sound Check. I have now set the tables so the Garage should also be more of a challenge for some of you.

Challenge – Try to find different 2D shapes with straight sides around the house. Can you calculate the perimeter of each shape to the nearest centimetre? (Year 4 - try to calculate in both centimetres and millimetres.)

Use the links below to help guide you in your learning. Remember, perimeter is the total distance around a shape so all sides need to be added together.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z4nsgk7/articles/zqf4cwx - metric measurements for length and mass.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvmxsbk/articles/zsr4k7h - perimeter.

(Now make sure you have had a play and something for lunch. What jobs around the house can you help with today?)

  • Afternoon DT Task:

Have a go at creating your 3D ‘House in Bentley’ model for our local area project this afternoon. You could also spend some time researching information about the local area. Remember if you don’t live in Bentley, use Google Earth to find a house you can build. You don’t need to worry about the inside; just building the exterior will be great!

Possible questions to answer:

What is there to do in Bentley?

How long has Bentley Primary been there?

What is the population of Bentley?

What county (not country!) is Bentley in? What are the next closest counties?

Which town is it closest too? What is there to do/see?

How is it the same or different to Bentley?

(Now it’s time to be active and get as much fresh air as you can. Maybe you could go for a walk or cycle with your family? Just make sure you stay safe!)

If you need some help, or want to let me know how you have got on today, just make a comment on this blog.  Please also share what you have created or written today too.

Have fun!

Miss Underwood
