Kittens 04.04.22

Date: 2nd Apr 2022 @ 10:41am

Hello Kittens! I hope you enjoyed Saturday's chocolate bingo if you went.

We had a fantastic day at Colchester Castle last week and the childrens behaviour was excellent, we are very proud of them.  Also, thank you to all of you for coming into school for parent consultations.

This is our last week of term and I will be assessing phonics and spot words as well as considering progress in maths and writing. As usual, I will post Easter homework here on Friday.  We have our Easter church service on Thursday afternoon, parents are welcome to attend and will need to collect their children from the church at 3.15pm. Please see the newsletter for more information about this.

Roll on Easter and some sunshine!

Homework for the Easter Holiday

Reception

Your child will have 2 reading books fo he holiday.  I have also provided phonic worksheets which will help your child to revisit and remember the phonics we have done over the Spring term.  Please try and do some phonics everyday because children will often forget what they have learned if they do not revisit, practise and over learn what they have done.  If you would like a maths focus then think about all the different ways you can make 5 such as 2 and 3, 3 and 2, 4 and 1, 1 and 4, 5 and 0, 0 and 5.  You could do this if you were out and about, for example at the beach with stones or with objects at home such as biscuits, cups etc.  If you are going shopping then ask your child to write a list or maybe keep a diary.  Please remember, it is important that children are using their phonics rather than spelling words accurately at this stage.

Year 1

Please practise spelling the common exception words as I will test the first week back.  I have provided 2 reading books and would like children to complete Pages 27,29 and 31 in their blue maths books please.  If you would like an additional maths focus, we have just started multiplication and counting in twos-using socks to show groups of 2 and pegging these on a line.  Sorting your socks in the laundry would be a great opportunity for your children to develop their understanding of groups of 2's.  Also, they can write shopping lists and kep a holiday diary which will keep their writing skills going while not at school.

Have a good Easter!
