Kittens 26.02.24

Date: 24th Feb 2024 @ 9:16pm

Hi Kittens, I hope you have had a lovely half term and lots of fun!

This week is very exciting as it is our food festival week where we will be learning about nutrition and developing our cooking skills.  We have also started new topics of learning so please do watch out for our new curricuulum map which will be added to our class page at the beginning of the week.

Our learning behaviour next week is 'Enjoy Learning'.

Our words for this week are: Reception: 'snap' and 'catch'   Year 1: 'healthy' and 'balanced diet'.

Our Value this half term is 'Forgiveness'.

Reminders:

Monday: PE today so please come in PE uniform.

Tuesday: Stay and Play for Reception parents. We will be making pea guacamole and tortilla cups as part of our food festival week. You can taste these with your child when you come in.

Wednesday:

Thursday: PE for Reception. Please come in PE kit!

Friday:  Parents are warmly invited to join Miss Cross for coffee and chat at 2.15pm in the hall. She will be updating you about how teaching and learning is being developed in school. Family sharing begins at 2.45pm (2.30 if you have more than one child). Please could parents ensure that they leave the classroom at 3:10pm so we can get the children ready for home safely and calmly. I look forward to seeing you all then!

Homework

Due in 12.2.24

  1. Phonics Sheet
  2. Maths worksheet
  3. Spot work books (Reception) and Common Exception Words (Year 1)
  4. Practice for number challenge (Yr 1)
  5. Spellings (Yr 1)
  6. Learning project
  7. 5 reads (please remember to record these in reading logs)

General Reminders:

Reading Giants

Please read at least 5 times and note them in your Planners. Remember, this can be reading your school reading book, reading your own books, reading a magazine/comic, listening to a story read by a grown-up, listening to a story on a device (such as a Tonie box), watching a story online/on TV (eg CBeebies Bedtime story).

We are promoting a love of reading, so read what you enjoy - just remember to write it in your Planner. Remember - we are working as a team to collect the most reads so if you don't read at home, your year team won't have a chance at winning the most reads across the school.

Have a great week!

Mrs Atkins :)
