Kittens 3rd March 2025
Date: 3rd Mar 2025 @ 8:04am
Hi Kittens,
I hope you had a fantastic weekend!
This week, our learning behaviour is 'tuning in' and our value is 'Justice'
Our words of the week are: Reception 'front' and 'full' Year 1: 'human feature' and 'physical feature'
Reminders:
Tuesday:
Wear PE kit. Please make sure all earrings are removed for PE
Change of menu - Different dessert for pancake day.
Thursday:
Homework and reading books due in.
World book day - pupils are invited to come into school dressed as their favourite book character. This is not compulsory. If your child does not wish to dress up, they can wear their uniform. Please bring in the book containing your favourite character. All children will be entered into a draw for the opportunity to win a set of Roald Dahl books kindly donated by the PTA. Children will receive a World Book Day voucher. If you wish to make a donation to the library, you are welcome to do so, but this is again, NOT compulsory.
Friday:
Forest School today! It is getting very cold now. Please remember to bring hats/scarves/gloves for children to wear. Please also bring wellies in a separate bag that children can change into.
Spelling tests
We are going to change the way we test spellings on a Friday. We will now send the same list of words home to practise, however when testing them in school we will be asking the children to write three dictated sentences that will include some of the words the children have been practising along with some of their common exception words. This is to ensure the children can apply the spellings they have learnt and also ensure the are using all the correct features of a sentence e.g. full stops and capital letters. The children have all been made aware of this change and are excited for a new challenge.
General reminders:
Children need to read their little wandle books at least 3 times a week. This will help them with their segmenting and blending. Children need to read 5 times to get a tick on the reading giants class sheet and work towards their bronze/silver/gold certificate.
Please ensure you are bringing bookbags, water bottles and coats to school.
Please make sure children are wearing correct uniform; including socks and it is labelled.
Homework - Due in 6.03.25
- Phonics sheet - please read through this 3 x a week with your child so they become familiar with the sounds they have been learning
- 5 Reads - Reading your little wandle book every day and recording this in your reading log.
- Year 1 - Write two sentences and make sure to inclue capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. Each sentence needs to include a spelling from your phonics sheet.
- Year 1 - Practise for number challenge
- Year 1 - Can you name all of the continents and oceans? Tell a grown up!
Have a fab week!
