Kittens - 4.5.21

Date: 30th Apr 2021 @ 5:35pm

Good morning Kittens!

I hope you had a lovely long weekend with your families. Welcome to May! A new month.

This week our learning behaviour is push yourself

I know you are really enjoying learning all about Australia and have remembered some great facts! I hope you are sharing them with your families.

This week we will be thinking about life cycles and we will be looking at the life cycle of some Australian animals. We will also start thinking about drawing and how to improve our drawing skills.

Homework:

Year 1

Please continue to read at least 5 times a week.

This week's spellings have the following spelling rule - tch is used when it comes after a single vowel letter e.g. w i tch

You and your grown-ups might like to look at the Year 1 common exception words that you need to read and write by the end of Year 1. They can be found here. If you have any free time, why not try and learn more of them.

We are working on learning our number facts off by heart. These will really help you with your mental calculation. Please continue to revise pairs of numbers that total 10 if you need some extra practice to recall them fluently.

I have given you a daily Maths challenge in your homework book to help you calculate one more than a number quickly.

Reception

At the bottom of this blog you will find our In school this week overview for our learning last week.

Please continue to read at least 5 times a week.

You might like to play this reading game to help you to see and read the words that include the digraphs and trigraphs we have been learning.

Please continue to learn your tricky words. Ask your grown-ups to look at the link to find some fun ways to help you learn them.

You will find new spellings in your quiz book. Learn them over the week ready for your spelling quiz on Friday.

Let's have a great week of learning!

Best wishes,

Mr Ross :-)
