Squirrels 3.3.25

Date: 28th Feb 2025 @ 3:49pm

Hello Squirrels,

I hope you have had a lovely weekend!

Our learning behaviour of the week is: 'tuning in' and our value is 'Justice'

Our words of the week are 'human feature' and 'physical feature'.

Reminders:

Monday
Y2 Swimming - Please wear your school uniform, but remember to bring your full swim kit. If you are wearing a skirt/dress it may be a better choice to wear socks as tights can be quite difficult to put back on after swimming.
Tuesday

Wear PE kit. Please make sure all earrings are removed for PE

Change of menu - Different dessert for pancake day.

Wednesday
Thursday

World book day - pupils are invited to come into school dressed as their favourite book character.  This is not compulsory.  If your child does not wish to dress up, they can wear their uniform.  Please bring in the book containing your favourite character.  All children will be entered into a draw for the opportunity to win a set of Roald Dahl books kindly donated by the PTA.  Children will receive a World Book Day voucher.  If you wish to make a donation to the library, you are welcome to do so, but this is again, NOT compulsory.

Friday

Homework due in

U8 Girls Football - parents have been advised by email if their daughter is participating in the event next Friday.  Children will be able to have a hot dinner prior to attending.  They will need PE kit and a coat, also plenty of water for the event.  Shin pads can be provided if you do not have any.  Please let the office know if you will be attending and taking your child home at the end.  If you are unable to attend, your child will need collecting from school at 3:45pm.

General Reminders

Please ensure you are bringing bookbags, water bottles and coats to school.

Earrings must be taken out for PE.

Please make sure children are wearing correct uniform; including socks and it is labelled.

5 reads for the week must be recorded by the Friday of that week and in school on the Friday in order to be marked on the chart.

Spelling tests

We are going to change the way we test spellings on a Friday. We will now send the same list of words home to practise, however when testing them in school we will be asking the children to write three dictated sentences that will include some of the words the children have been practising along with some of their common exception words. This is to ensure the children can apply the spellings they have learnt and also ensure the are using all the correct features of a sentence e.g. full stops and capital letters. The children have all been made aware of this change and are excited for a new challenge.

Homework

Due in 7.3.25

  1. Spellings
  2. Practice for number challenge
  3. Three sentences in time order.
  4. Phonics Sheet (Y1 only)
  5. Remember the continents and oceans.
  6. 5 reads (please remember to record these in reading logs)

If  your adult would like to know more about the sentences we are learning in school and how to support you with your writing homework, please check out the writing video on the Curriculum tab-How parents can support the curriculum.

Have a great week!
