Wolves w.b. 23.05.22
Date: 19th May 2022 @ 4:50pm
Dear parents,
Learning this week
This week, in Wolves, we are thinking about the Queen's platinum jubilee and completing some art, history and writing activities linked to her reign on the throne.
Year 2 will be taking their SATs, Reading on Monday, Maths on Tuesday and Spelling and Grammar will be on Wednesday.
In mathematics Year 1 and Reception will be working on First, Now and Then stories, (eg First there were 8 people on the bus. Then 3 people got off. Now there are 5 people left on the bus)
You may have noticed that I have changed the set tables for Times Tables Rock Stars, if you have logged on recently. I will set a table each week to practise, although this will include all the tables facts and accompanying division facts. This week the set table is 2 time tables. I will try to set a battle each week and give out certificates to the top 3 in each category. Well done girls last week - but boys, it was definately a close battle in the end!
Our learning behaviour of the week is 'Don't give up' and our value is 'Friendship'.
Yr1/2 vocabulary words this week are 'urban' and 'sprawling'
R vocabulary words are 'fast' and 'few'
Notices
Some Year 1 parents asked if they could pracise some 'alien' words. If you would like to support at home with this learning, I have attached a list including a selection of words practising many different phonemes/graphemes and some 'alien' words. Also, here is a link to a website we have been using in lessons recently to sort real and alien words Buried Treasure (phonicsplay.co.uk).
I've had a few queries over water in class. Just to reassure all parents, that although the water bottles are now kept by the sink, all children are reminded and encouraged to drink throughout the day, and are able to access their water bottles when required. Also a quick reminder about snacks; fruit is provided in school for Reception/KS1 as a healthy snack, but if you would to prefer to send your child with their own, please ensure it is a piece fo fruit or vegetables to fit with school poilcy.
Reminders:
Please name jumpers/cardigans if possible please - in this warmer weather a lot get removed during the day, and a name in each piece of clothing would make it easier to reunite each with its owner!
PE on is Mondays (2 sessions)
Swimming (second PE session for some Yr 2 children on Monday afternoon)
Spelling words will be tested on Tuesday.
Key words will be tested on Wednesday
Friday is end of the half term and our Jubilee Celebration Day!
