Monday - drop off at Church at 8:55am at the path and continue driving. Please just send water bottles and wear sun hats (and packed lunch box, if needed) rather than sending book bags.PE kits still needed.
Tuesday - brain sticker treat. Can bring a small toy or game in to play.
I know we are all looking forward to the summer break and enjoying time at home that is not home schooling!
However, it is important that a child keeps their mind working during the long holidays to avoid them experiencing brain-drain and facing a setback once term starts again. Research consistently shows that children who do not engage in any type of mental activity during the summer tend to lose up to a third of what they have learnt during the academic year. Teachers typically spend four to six weeks re-teaching material that pupils have forgotten over the summer and children spend about the same amount of time settling back into the habit of learning.
Therefore, please find links below to support summer learning.

It’s all about helping people to catch up with what they’ve been missing. This might be catching up with each other and benefitting from all the social interaction that library activities can provide, or catching up on books and reading skills with the Summer Reading Challenge proven to be a great way of maintaining children’s literacy skills over the long summer holidays.
Some activities have started already and it’ll take a while before the full calendar of events is up and running but check the website at Home | Suffolk Libraries or contact your local library to find out what’s on offer.
Children can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge for free at all libraries from Saturday 17 July and it’ll be running until September.
This year’s theme is Wild World Heroes – a group of friends making their town even better for the people and animals that live there. The challenge is aimed at children aged 4-11. You sign up, read six books over the summer holidays and collect a prize for each one from the library. If you complete the challenge, you’ll also get a certificate. All primary schools have been sent posters and bookmarks to give to pupils.
You can also sign up for a special children’s newsletter and Suffolk Libraries will keep you posted on events and reading ideas over the summer, as well as send Summer Reading Challenge reminders. Summer Reading Challenge 2021 | Suffolk Libraries
Have a great summer break, stay safe and we look forward to seeing all of you in September.
