Copdock Weekly Update 11/10/2024

Information to Share

Meals Changing - after half term a new menu will be in place.  This will also enable you to select a Lunchtime Lunchbox.  Please note we will be increasing the cost of a school meal to £2.80 from 5th November.  Therefore we kindly ask that all meals taken before half term are paid for by we break up on 25th October.

First Class Supplement - the reception class photos will be published in the local paper on Friday 18th October.

Afternoon Tea - please attend the afternoon tea being offered by our caterers, LunchtimeCo.  They are keen to work with families to ensure as many children as possible take up the option of a school meal, especially if fully funded by the government.  They will be holding a taster session on Friday 18th October, from 2pm, so parents can sample some food from the menu and discuss possible tweaks to increase uptake.  There will be a new menu introduced after half term so please take the time to come along and find out more.

High School Applications - year 6 parents have until the end of October to apply for a high school place from September 2025.

Amen Shoebox Appeal - we will be supporting the shoebox appeal alongside the church once again this year, linking this to our value of generosity with the children. Leaflets are available in school if you wish to complete your own box.  However, we also welcome any small gifts from our families so the children can make up boxes with the donations received.  More information about suitable gifts can be found on the attached poster.  The deadline for gifts is half term please, allowing time for boxes to be packed and prepared for delivery.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Open Event for Prospective Parents - we will be holding our open events on Wednesday 13th November, 9.30am and 6pm.  Please share the word if you know anyone looking for a school place in September 2025.

PTA AGM - please be advised that the PTA will be holding their AGM on Monday 21st October at 8pm in the school hall.  Please come along to support them, find out what they do and how you can help, even if it's not on a regular basis.

PTA Halloween Disco - join us for a spooktackular disco on Friday 25th October at Copdock Village Hall.  The evening will be full of tricks and treats for all.  The disco will finish at 4:45pm with the raffle draw following at 5pm.  Dressing up is highly encouraged - pupils will be able to come to school dressed down in preparation.  👻 Grab your tickets now for just £4! 👻

PGL - ALL Educational Visits forms need to be returned by Friday please - ensuring the final paragraph is completed with a response to the question.

Year 2 Drama Workshop - year 2 from both schools will be visited by Ipswich School for a drama workshop on the afternoon of Thursday 17th October.

Christmas Cake Club - Miss Cross and Mrs Atkins are hoping to run our successful Christmas cake club again this year for children in KS2.  It will run every Thursday after school from the  14th Nov to 12th December.  For this club to run, we do need additional help from parents so please let us know any sessions that you could help.  We also need parents to help with weighing and preparing ingredients before the first session.  The cost will be £23. If you would like your child to take part, please let the office know by Friday 18th October 3pm. There are limited spaces and  we won't be able to accept anyone after this date.

REMINDERS!!!!

As the weather has turned more autumnal, please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly.

Those in Woodpeckers who are swimming need to remember their kits on Mondays

Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays

Reception children need to wear their Forest Schools clothing on Fridays

Earrings must be removed for PE lessons

Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled.  Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening.

words.PNG

Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary.  In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context.  If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
