Copdock Weekly Update 21/03/2025
Information to ShareThe Big Walk and Wheel Week - we have signed up to 'The Big Walk and Wheel' which runs from the 24th March to 4th April. This is to encourage as many children as possible walk, scoot, wheelchair or cycle to school. During the week, a tally of how many children travelled to school in one of these ways will be kept. If you live further than walking distance then parking in the village and walking the final bit means are you eligible! Once our scores are submitted each morning, the school will be entered into a draw to win prizes for the school such as bikes, scooters and skateboarding equipment. We hope you will join us for this fantastic event! Please see attached poster. Parent Consultation Evenings - slots for parent consultations are now closed. Thank you for your prompt bookings. Please arrive a couple of minutes prior to your appointment and wait in Squirrels (the classroom off the hall), you will be collected from there for your slot. School Walk - pupils will be going on a walk on Thursday morning as part of their outdoor learning. Children are to come in wearing school uniform but can wear trainers and must have an appropriate jacket for the weather. KS2 Maths Events - parents are invited in to class for some maths next Friday, Woodpeckers from 9:45-10:20am and Foxes from 2pm - to finish in time for the PTA event. Please let us know if you intend to come along so we have an idea of numbers. Sharing Assembly - due to the PTA event next week, we will be hosting the weekly sharing assembly at 9am and not in the afternoon. Those sharing have already been notified. If your child is receiving a Learning Behaviour, please bear in mind the change of time. Please wait at the gate once the children have gone in and we will let you into the hall once the children are settled. PTA Muffins with Mum - this event is taking place next Friday afternoon. There are two timeslots available. Pre-booking is essential. Please see the attached details on how to book and pay. Cross Country - in order to qualify for the cross country, we do need to provide a marshall for the event. Those parents who are attending, would anyone mind volunteering to marshall a race - the more offers, the less time you will spend doing it. Unfortunately, if we do not get a volunteer, the children will not be able to participate. Please let the office know if you can spare the time. Easter Service - don't forget to make a start on your Easter bonnets ready for our parade into our service being held on Thursday 3rd April at 2:30pm in school. There will be a prize per year group for the bonnets worn on the parade. Summer Term Changes - we are writing to inform you that Mrs Austin has been approached by the LA to support another local school during the summer term, whilst they are recruiting a Headteacher. To ensure that things continue to run smoothly at Bentley and Copdock Schools, Miss Cross will be released from her teaching commitment to support school development priorities on both school sites. Mrs Cook, who currently works at Bentley alongside Mrs North, will be teaching Woodpeckers class on a Thursday and Friday. She is looking forward to getting to know Woodpeckers and has already been into school to say hello. New MIS System - we are now live on our new MIS system - this may take some time for us to be as efficient as we were on the old one, but we will get there. Over the coming weeks we hope to be able to give you details on how you can have access to your own data via the app. Please keep an eye out for information delivered via the newsletter. In the meantime please continue to notify us of any changes to contact details in the usual way. Lunchtime Co Colouring Competition - please see attached flyer regarding a design and colouring competition to advertise the salad bar/healthy eating from our caterers. All entries need to be handed in to school by Monday 31st March to be judged. New Kit - we have been very lucky and have been gifted a new kit from a parent. We have already put it to good use at a couple of tournaments. Huge thanks go to Guy Clubb for providing this to us and ensuring we look the part when we take to the field/court/pitch. |

REMINDERS!!!! Please ensure your child has a named coat or waterproof in school for break times - we do like to get outside even if it's a bit drizzly. Those Swimming need their kits on Mondays. Foxes need to remember clarinets for their lessons on Tuesdays. Reception children need to wear Forest Schools clothing on Fridays and bring welly boots. Earrings must be removed for PE lessons. Please check the uniform policy to ensure the correct earrings are being worn. Please ensure anything brought into school is labelled. Look out for lost property on the lunchbox trolley each evening. Playground sales - we still have lots of seeds on sale for 50p per pack. We are also looking for donations for any of the books on the trolley. |
Every week we encourage parents to support their children to learn and use new vocabulary. In school we will be exploring the origin of new words, what they mean and how to use them effectively in context. If you can encourage your child to use these words it would be really helpful!
