Homework

Many parents ask how they can support their child and we strongly encourage you to do this. In any week there are 168 hrs, of which 31 hrs are spent at school! If their learning only happens in school we are missing a huge potential.  All the homework that we set supports the learning that has happened in class over the week and enables children to make links and embed what they have learnt.

Homework

Foundation

Children will have daily homework which will reinforce and support their phonics in school.  This will include sound flash cards, key words and blending words.

Learning Journeys for Foundation children are online so parents and carers can access their child's learning whenver they wish.

Year 1

Children will have a weekly spelling test which links to their learning in Phonics for that week and also will either have a piece of Maths or Literacy homework to also complete.  There may also be extra tasks set over the year so please regularly check homework books. Please read in the evenings as much as possible.  Children will also have their phonics book to read at home.

Year 2

Homework will be collected and marked every Friday and new homework will be set on the same day.  A weekly spelling test will be on Friday and children will be practising their times tables daily with a weekly test on Friday.  Other homework may also be set such as grammar and writing so please check your child’s homework book regularly.
